README

Model Context Protocol servers that let AI agents work with African financial systems, starting with M-Pesa Daraja: payouts, transaction queries and statement reconciliation, sandboxed and idempotent by default.

Why#

Payment tools are the hardest tools to hand an agent safely. mcp-african-markets exposes M-Pesa Daraja through MCP with the defaults set to safe: sandbox unless you explicitly opt into production, idempotency keys, and read-only operations wherever the task allows it.

How it works#

Two servers today: daraja, for STK push, payouts and transaction status, and reconcile, for matching statement lines against expected transactions. county-data and kra are planned. Credentials are passed as environment variables, and switching a server into production mode is a separate, explicit step, not a config flag an agent could flip by accident.

Status#

v0.x, with sandboxed Daraja authentication as the current focus.
